About Us

Innovate Marquette SmartZone, also known as Innovate Marquette, is one of 21 SmartZones located throughout the state, was established in 2015 to provide entrepreneurial services to the Marquette County and Upper Peninsula community.

Through the support of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) and the City of Marquette, Innovate Marquette exists to transform our community into a world-class entrepreneurial ecosystem. We do this by leveraging our unique set of resources, experiences, and knowledge available in our network. Our mission is to provide support, guidance, and services to local entrepreneurs, innovators, startups, and small business owners looking to innovate from within.

In order to grow and maintain a successful entrepreneurial ecosystem, we partner with Northern Michigan University’s Invent@NMU program as well as other local economic development organizations.

WHAT IS A SMARTZONE?
SmartZones provide distinct geographical locations where technology-based companies, entrepreneurs and researchers can locate in close proximity to community assets that assist in their endeavors. MISSION
The mission of Innovate Marquette is to create a supportive environment and robust entrepreneurial ecosystem in which entrepreneurs in all sectors can be recognized and promoted and where new business ideas can start, grow, and succeed while existing ones can continue to innovate, thrive, and expand.
